If you’re after a muscular car with room for the family, a 2023 Dodge Charger just might be the right fit for you. This classic muscle car has withstood the test of time, and there’s a reason for that.
An Overview
There are several versions of this four-door, rear-wheel drive sports car, with the 2023 line-up, including Hellcats, Redeyes, Scat Packs, and Widebodies.
What’s New?
The biggest change is that the new 2023 Charger line-up now includes its first all-electric powertrain. New colors that were popular years ago have also been revived, such as Sublime Green and Plum Crazy. A new 345 badge is now displayed on the front fenders of every R/T, in honor of its V-8 engine. A final change is that the Jailbreak models are now offered as Scat Packs and Widebodies, but not as Redeyes or Hellcats.
Engines and Performance
This gloriously spacious car is powerful yet quiet, and very quick off the mark, able to reach 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. It’s equally adept at braking, managing to stop smoothly and quickly, taking just 102 feet to stop from a speed of 60 mph.
All Chargers benefit from an excellent eight-speed automatic transmission, while some have a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 292 horsepower and 260 lb.-feet of torque. The most powerful Charger, the SRT Hellcat, has a 6.2-liter turbocharged V-8 that delivers 717 horsepower and a staggering 707 lb.-feet of torque. Those with a V-8 can surge from 0-60 mph in an astonishing 3.8 seconds. Extraordinarily brilliant!
Cabin, Comfort, and Cargo
The cabin’s interior has a classic design and plenty of space, especially in the rear seats and the trunk, which are bigger than those of its rival counterparts. The rear seats are collapsible, providing even more space for additional cargo. There’s lots of storage space, including cupholders on the center console, too.
The seats are made to bolster and support, with padding and a sculpted design that’s been carefully shaped to keep you comfortable and secure on roads with lots of twists and turns.
Safety and Driver-Assistance
All Chargers, including the base model, can monitor blind spots and are equipped with a rear cross-traffic alert. They also have a lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a front collision alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic braking in an emergency.
Technology
All Chargers are fitted with a Uconnect infotainment system that provides access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is accessed via a 7.0-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen that responds instantly to touch or voice commands. In addition, you have the option to add a fantastic 19-speaker stereo, through which music that’s been quickly cataloged by the excellent Uconnect system, can be played.
