2020 Ram 1500 models | Performance Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Delaware in Delaware, OHFull-size pickups aren’t all created equal. So when Ram was named the best truck brand for 2020 you know you’re getting something special with the 1500 series. The Ram 1500’s selection by Consumer Guide as a Best Buy for 2020 twelve years in a row confirms that. Here’s a look at the Ram 1500’s three best features.

  1. Multi-Function Tailgate

Ram has done something new with the 1500’s tailgate that others have yet to try. Now the tailgate is engineered to swing open like doors with a 60/40 split. This clever option allows easy access to the cargo bed whereas before one would have to lean over the tailgate in the traditional drop-down position.

This added feature is also useful when you have a trailer hitched up. Usually, a trailer would keep you from opening your tailgate, restricting access and forcing you to climb into the bed to hand things out if you needed something.

Ram didn’t trade one thing for another here either. The tailgate still drops down in the normal way and has a damping system that softly lowers the tailgate. You don’t need to worry about it being tough. The new design is rated to hold up to 2,000 pounds.

  1. RamBox Cargo Management System

Realizing that truck owners use their beds for all sorts of jobs, Ram has designed the bed of the 1500 with its RamBox Cargo Management System. Another clever use of space that for generations went unused is the sides of the bed over the wheels.

Now Ram offers lockable storage bins on each side complete with drain plugs. They not only store gear but function as a cooler to keep drinks and other things cold. The lids feature embedded LED lights to help you see inside, plus 115-volt outlets providing power to keep tools charged or run household appliances.

  1. Special Editions

If you’re looking for a unique look, the Ram 1500 has several special editions and appearance packages to amp up the style. A Built to Serve Edition pays homage to our armed services with decals and logos located inside and out. There are even dedicated areas on the seats to add your own Velcro decals.

The Laramie Southwest Edition features chrome accents, body-color mirrors, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof to let the wide-open southwest air in the cab. This edition is only available in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

If you spend more time in the city than on the prairie, then the Night Edition is for you. It’s loaded with blacked-out details from the grille to the bumpers, wheels and more, all paired with the body color of your choice.

For those looking for even more black, the Black Appearance package takes it to another level. It’s only available on the Rebel and Limited models and uses Diamond Black Crystal Pearl paint over every inch of your 1500.
