Broken Thermal Switch
The thermal switch is a small switch that reacts to increased engine temperature by turning on the radiator fan. When you drive on the open road, most airflow comes through the radiator grille from the outside air. Driving in a city, airflow is weaker and the radiator fan plays the main part in cooling the hot coolant in the radiator tubes.
