1. Gallant Farm
Travel back in time to experience life during the era of the Great Depression at the farmhouse located at 2150 Buttermilk Hill Road. Their demonstrations will leave you with a renewed sense of gratitude for the tools and knowledge of modern-day life. The farm includes a farmhouse adorned with period furnishings, a granary, a machine shed, a barn with 1890s timbers, and a barnyard.
As you walk through the demonstration crop fields, vegetable garden, and orchard, you’ll encounter many skilled interpreters going along their daily business as if frozen in the 1900s. Costumed farmhands plow the fields with the tools of the era, and even cook on a wood-burning stove. Best of all, there’s no charge to visit the farm!
2. Blend of Seven Winery
The charming family-owned winery at 1400 Stratford Road credits its success to the use of high-quality grapes, never masking or dulling the fruit’s flavor. No matter what your preferred flavor palate is, you’ll find something delicious to sip on out of their delicious selection of 33 blends! Alcohol is only intended for adults of legal drinking age. Please remember to drink responsibly and in moderation, and never drink and drive.
If the promise of tantalizing wine served in a quaint setting isn’t endearing enough, you should know that most of their signature blends are named by the family’s youngest grandchildren. Blend of Seven also uses Ohio juice and Ohio juice blends for their creations whenever possible.
3. Boardman Arts Park
Sometimes a community of open-hearted individuals gets together and creates something beautiful. That’s exactly how we were blessed with the art park situated on 2.2 acres at 154 W William Street. This incredible repurposed nature expanse is a prime example of our city’s caring community and is now a vibrant hub for creative types and nature lovers.
You’ll find unique art paths and sculptures lining the walking paths, with something beautiful to admire from every bench. The innovative outdoor collection of masterpieces showcases a rotating lineup of local artists, and there are interactive activities and structures throughout the park. Keep an eye on their online calendar for must-see events and activities, like the annual Vintage & Artisan Festival, the Beer & Wine Festival, and the Ghost Walk.
4. Stratford Ecological Center
Pile the family into your Jeep Compass Limited and head over to the educational nature preserve at 3083 Liberty Road, where you’ll make lifelong memories while learning about the environment. Educational programs are available, or you can explore the 236 acres of an outdoor classroom by hiking the 4 miles of trails, splashing in the creek or pond, and studying the plants in the greenhouses.
