Getting here from the Delaware city center takes about half an hour by car, driving 30 miles south along route OH-31 or I-71.
The Ohio Statehouse building was constructed between 1839 and 1861 and is considered one of the oldest working statehouses in the entire United States. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, the building is known for its impressive rotunda and the elaborate Grand Stair Hall. Visitor hours are Monday to Friday between 8 am and 5 pm, on Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm, and on Sunday between 11 am and 5 pm.

2. National Veterans Memorial and Museum

Sitting along the banks of the Scioto River, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum opened its doors to the public in 2018 and has since been one of the best places to learn about the history of the American military and the personal experiences of war veterans. Featuring a large outdoor memorial grove, as well as a memorial stone wall and a reflecting pool, this museum is located about 35 minutes by car, driving south along route OH-315.
Some of the objects you can check out in the museum’s permanent exhibit include personal artifacts such as letters sent by combatants from conflict zones, military ribbons, uniforms, and footlockers. If you’re interested in the stories and diverse backgrounds of war veterans from all over the country, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum is a place you should definitely check out. Visiting hours are Wednesday to Sunday between 10 am and 5 pm.

3. Kelton House Museum & Garden

Another beautiful example of Greek Revival architecture in the heart of the Columbus downtown area, Kelton House Museum & Garden was inaugurated as a private mansion in 1852. Nowadays, the place serves as a museum dedicated to showcasing the daily life of Columbus locals in the 19th Century. This place is open to visitors from Thursday to Sunday between 12 pm and 4 pm. Getting here from downtown Delaware takes about 35 minutes by car along route I-71.
